大批難民湧入德國，部分難民被安置在前納粹集中營，儘管難民不在意住集中營，但這樣的安排仍招致外界批評。

英國《每日郵報》報導，有21名男性難民被安置在威瑪市附近惡名昭彰的前納粹布亨瓦爾德（Buchenwald）集中營。二戰期間，該集中營曾囚禁約25萬人，逾5.6萬人遭殺害。

來自厄利垂亞北部的20歲青年馬薩說，他不介意這裡曾經是集中營，「我覺得這裡不錯。」他正在等待當局接受他的難民申請。已經入住一周的阿爾及利亞難民迪奧伊雷也說，許多人甚至連這樣的棲身之所都沒有。集中營內有地毯、基本的烹煮設備、電視和雙層床舖。德國其它城市也出現難民被安排住進納粹集中營。德國西部施韋特鎮在接納200名難民後，已沒有更多空間或經費來收容難民，鎮議會於今年元月宣布此一不尋常的決定。

儘管難民心懷感激，且滿意現況，但德國北萊茵─西伐利亞邦難民協會主席諾尤克斯說，這令人不安，實在太沒敏感度。柏林市米特區區長漢克則表示，這是緊急情況，無法避免。部分難民已經入住好幾個月，每月領取政府發放的135歐元，用來購買食物和生活必需品。

難民湧入，慕尼黑警方13日表示，該市收容難民的能力已達極限。警方發言人說：「12日共有1萬2200名難民抵達…今天預計還會有數百人。從這些數字來看，我們的承受力明顯達到上限。我們今天的目標是將人運送出去，騰出空間給新來的難民。」 德國媒體報導，面對難民不斷湧入，德國內政部13日傍晚將宣布恢復實施邊界管制。奧地利國營鐵路公司則宣布，自當天下午5時（台灣時間晚間11時）起，開往德國的列車將暫停行駛，但未進一步說明原因。
